About This Event
Join Teledyne LeCroy for an insightful 4-part webinar series focused on the critical aspects of testing automotive networks. As the automotive industry rapidly evolves, in-vehicle networks are transitioning from traditional architectures to sophisticated domain-based designs, integrating Ethernet gateways and zonal architectures with specialized controllers. This series will cover the essential architectures, technologies, and specific electrical test requirements necessary for modern automotive applications, including advanced ADAS, infotainment, and autonomous driving technologies. The first part of the series, titled 'Fundamentals of In-Vehicle Network (IVN) Bus Systems,' will delve into the evolution of IVN architectures. Participants will explore a range of designs from classic setups to domain-based systems and zonal architectures. This session will highlight the benefits of these modern architectures while also addressing the design challenges they present. The discussion will conclude with an overview of the critical electrical test requirements and the tools available for effective troubleshooting and design qualification. In the second part, 'How to Compliance Test In-Vehicle Network (IVN) Bus Systems Using Oscilloscopes and TDRs,' attendees will learn the importance of physical media attachment (PMA) compliance testing. This training will ensure interoperability, preserve signal integrity, and meet Automotive Ethernet (IEEE/Open Alliance) and SerDes specifications. Key PMA tests will be outlined, along with instructions for setting them up using oscilloscopes and TDRs equipped with automated compliance toolkits. The third part, 'How to Debug In-Vehicle Network (IVN) Bus Systems Using Oscilloscopes,' will focus on IVN link communications. Participants will gain insights into identifying root causes of issues and debugging both point-to-point and multidrop architectures. Advanced triggering methods will be discussed to isolate critical protocol events, while real-time decoding will correlate packet data with analog waveforms. Eye diagram analysis will also be covered to quickly assess signal quality. Finally, the fourth part, 'How to Measure and Qualify Cables and Connectors for Use in In-Vehicle Network (IVN) Bus Systems,' will explain the significance of impedance-related measurements such as return loss, mode conversion loss, and channel insertion loss in accordance with Automotive Ethernet and SerDes standards like ASA Motion Link and MIPI A-PHY. The session will cover fundamental impedance analysis, S-parameters, and the calibration and measurement processes of TDR instruments, along with de-embedding techniques that aid in expediting debugging during design validation. Thomas Stueber, the IVN Product Marketing Manager at Teledyne LeCroy, will lead these sessions. Even if you cannot attend live, registration will ensure you receive a recording of the webinars.
