About This Event
The World Congress of Architects is set to take place in Barcelona, Spain, and is expected to attract over 10,000 participants, including architects, members of the academic community, and students from around the world. Under the compelling theme of Becoming: Architectures for a planet in transition, the congress will delve into six open and interconnected themes that explore the concept of time as a fundamental design tool. This event will feature nearly 200 international speakers who will engage in conferences, debates, and a major exhibition. A selection process will see around 125 speakers curated by the Curatorial Team and Scientific Committee, while approximately 75 proposals will be chosen through a Call for Participants jury. The congress will be held across two prominent venues: the Three Chimneys in Sant Adrià de Besòs and the Disseny Hub Barcelona (DHub). Notably, this edition will showcase 12 unprecedented design research projects, with contributions from renowned groups and individuals including Atelier Bow-Wow, Colectivo C733, Anna Puigjaner, de Vylder Vinck, Eva Franch with TAKK, and Forensic Architecture. The event is organized by the Azerbaijani Union of Architects with support from the Higher Council of Professional Associations of Architects of Spain (CSCAE), the Architect’s Association of Catalonia (COAC), and local governmental institutions, including equal funding from the City of Barcelona, the Generalitat de Catalunya, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda of Spain (MIVAU). This congress promises to be a pivotal gathering for architects and design professionals, fostering dialogue and innovation in the field.
