About This Event
The seminar titled Geotechnical Challenges in Bridge and Civil Engineering focuses on essential knowledge and innovative developments in the field of foundations for bridges and civil engineering structures. It is designed for both experienced and junior engineers, project and testing engineers, specialists, and managers involved in bridge construction. The seminar will cover critical topics such as the design of shallow and deep foundations, ground improvement techniques, and the application of geosynthetics in abutment construction. Participants will gain insights into the planning and evaluation of ground investigation measures, including an overview of relevant investigation methods and their areas of application, as well as potential sources of error. The emphasis will be on understanding the importance of a correctly designed foundation, which is crucial for the safe and economical load transfer of any structure.Conducted by two esteemed experts in the field, Prof. Jan Lücking and Prof. Florian Höltkorn, the seminar promises to deliver a wealth of knowledge. Prof. Lücking, a Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at Lübeck University of Applied Sciences, has extensive experience in planning and managing projects in the construction industry and is also involved in the revision of Eurocode 7. Prof. Höltkorn, from Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, brings over a decade of international experience in geotechnics, mining, and dam construction. The seminar will be held at the Hotel NH Düsseldorf City in Düsseldorf, Germany, and is complemented by case studies and examples of damage to provide a comprehensive understanding of the geotechnical challenges faced in bridge and civil engineering.
