About This Event
The ENHR Annual Conference in Oslo is set to explore critical themes surrounding homeownership, prosperity, and inequality in the 21st century. This conference will gather a diverse group of researchers, policymakers, and housing professionals to investigate the evolving role of housing systems in shaping social stratification, urban development, and economic transformation. Participants will engage in a series of interdisciplinary presentations, workshops, and dialogues aimed at understanding the dynamics of homeownership, particularly in the context of housing affordability crises, wealth gaps, and demographic changes. One of the significant highlights includes the 10th Anniversary Edition of the ENHR Working Group on Collaborative Housing, which seeks to reflect on the impact of collaborative housing research and practices over the past decade. This group encourages contributions addressing critical perspectives and prefigurative practices inspired by collaborative housing scholarship, focusing on policy innovations that improve housing outcomes and scaling up strategies for various forms of collaborative housing. Additionally, the Comparative Housing Policy Working Group welcomes papers on international comparative housing, while the Private Rented Sector Working Group invites discussions on regulation, sustainability, and the intersection of renting with socioeconomic factors. The Housing Law Working Group aims to foster dialogue on the intersection of law, rights, and housing, emphasizing national variations and the need for cross-border collaboration in this area. Meanwhile, the Disadvantaged Urban Neighbourhoods and Communities group calls for contributions that explore social mechanisms behind poverty, segregation, and social inequalities, focusing on quantitative and qualitative research approaches. In terms of gender dynamics, the Gender and Housing Working Group seeks contributions on feminist issues in housing, while the Housing, Migration, and Family Dynamics group emphasizes research on how demographic events influence housing transitions. The Social Housing and Globalisation workshop will explore new trends in social rental housing amid the current housing crisis, focusing on innovative strategies and policy implications. Moreover, the Minority Ethnic Groups and Housing session invites studies on residential mobility and preferences among minority communities. The conference will also feature discussions on housing finance, examining the implications of financial dynamics in the current crises and the importance of housing policy in addressing housing affordability and accessibility. Overall, the conference will serve as a platform for scholars and practitioners to exchange ideas, share research findings, and explore solutions to pressing housing issues, all within the broader context of housing and prosperity in the 21st century.
