About This Event

The seminar titled Basic Knowledge of Facility Management (FM) is designed to equip attendees with foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary for effective building management. This comprehensive program covers various aspects of facility management (FM), including an overview of technical systems such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, drinking water, power, lighting, and conveyor systems. Participants will learn how to operate and maintain these systems efficiently, ensuring they understand the maintenance processes required for inspection, servicing, repair, and testing of building services equipment. This seminar is particularly beneficial for newcomers and those transitioning into facility management roles, such as technical employees, facility managers, property managers, construction managers, architects, and sales professionals from construction and property sectors, municipalities, and industrial companies. The seminar emphasizes the importance of risk management in the operation of buildings and facilities. Attendees will be introduced to essential FM tools for data collection and asset management, which will aid in recognizing and managing service processes effectively. Dr. Miller, the seminar's speaker, brings a wealth of experience, having studied instrumentation and control engineering and electrical engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig. With a career spanning various roles, including significant positions at Preussag AG and Dussmann Service Deutschland GmbH, he founded Service Kompetenz Kompakt in 2014, where he aids companies in optimizing services and engineering projects in building services engineering. Participants will gain insights from practical examples that illustrate various FM processes and measures, making this seminar a valuable opportunity for professional development in facility management. The curriculum also includes critical topics such as energy efficiency assessments, maintenance strategies, condition recording and assessment of building services engineering, and understanding relevant standards and guidelines, such as DIN EN, VDI, GEFMA, RealFM, and AMEV. This ensures that attendees are well-prepared to handle the complexities of modern facility management and can implement effective strategies for their operations. The event is organized by the VDI Association of German Engineers and will take place in Köln, Germany.
