The ESIR Course: The Modern Multidisciplinary Tumour Board is a specialized event designed for interventional radiologists (IRs) and their multidisciplinary colleagues, taking place in Pisa, Italy. This course emphasizes the importance of multidisciplinary tumour boards (MDTBs) in collaborative decision-making for patient treatment strategies. As IRs increasingly participate in these discussions, their capacity to present scientific evidence on local-regional therapies is pivotal. However, many IRs lack formal training in communication and leadership within the MDTB context, which this course aims to address.Over two intensive days, the program provides a blend of scientific updates and hands-on communication training. The first day features interactive exercises focused on conflict resolution, stakeholder analysis, and team dynamics, enhancing essential soft skills through practical scenarios. Participants will conclude the day with a debriefing session, equipping them with actionable strategies to improve their engagement and leadership roles in MDTBs. The second day pivots to the latest clinical evidence concerning primary liver, kidney, and colorectal liver cancers. Through case-based discussions with multidisciplinary experts, attendees will gain valuable insights into the evaluation of IR treatments within MDTBs. This course not only refines clinical skills but also fosters effective communication, enabling IRs to contribute more significantly to MDTB discussions and ultimately improve patient outcomes.The course is open to participants from IASIOS centres, with eligible attendees receiving free registration and a travel allowance of up to €500 per person. This initiative is aligned with CIRSE's Standards of Quality Assurance in Interventional Oncology, highlighting the critical role of IRs in MDTBs.
