About This Event

The Ccps Program Meeting in Tucson, United States, features renowned fabric and quilt pattern designer Kate Colleran, who brings her expertise and passion for quilting to the event. Colleran is not only an accomplished quilt teacher and author, but she also has a rich background in teaching at local quilt shops, guilds, and national quilt shows. She has made appearances on popular platforms such as Love of Quilting and The Quilt Show, and offers online classes through Craftsy and Quilting Daily. Inspired by traditional quilting elements, her designs showcase a modern twist, and she is known for her popular Braid and Mini Braid Templates. As a fabric designer for Island Batik, Colleran enjoys seeing her designs come to life on batik fabrics, and she aims to empower quilters by helping them discover the techniques that resonate with their personal style.During the event, Colleran will present two engaging sessions. The first, titled Modern Traditional – Exploring Quilt Styles, will delve into various quilt styles using examples from her patterns, her book, and quilts featured in magazines. She will discuss the interplay of styles, color choices, and sources of inspiration for quilt ideas. The second session, Moon Walk – Exploring the Drunkard’s Path Block, is a hands-on class where participants will learn to cut and piece a Drunkard’s Path block. Using her Drunkard’s Path Template set 1, Colleran will demonstrate three distinct methods for piecing these blocks, including her preferred one-pin method. This workshop not only enables students to master curved piecing but also allows them to create a modern table runner, the Moon Walk, while learning how to adjust block sizes for future projects. The workshop fee of $50 includes the template and pattern, making it a valuable opportunity for quilters looking to enhance their skills. Additionally, attendees will have the chance to explore various quilt shops in Tucson, meet fellow quilters, and join quilting bees, creating a vibrant and supportive community atmosphere at the Quilt Fiesta.
