About This Event

The Gia Colored Stone Grading Lab is an educational event designed for individuals interested in enhancing their understanding of colored gemstones. This course will delve into the GIA Colored Stone Grading System, focusing on how to accurately describe color by elements such as hue, tone, and saturation. Participants will learn to assess gem quality factors, the intricate relationship between light and color, and methods for developing effective color memory. A key component of the course includes a two-stone practical exam that students must pass to successfully complete the class. Upon completion, students will receive valuable resources including a class manual, a gem cloth, a pinpoint incandescent light source, and a color grading card, all of which will aid in their ongoing gemstone education. The GIA Pearl Grading Lab will complement the colored stone course, offering insights from the world’s foremost experts on how to determine the quality of various types of pearls, including akoya, freshwater, South Sea, and Tahitian pearls. This segment will cover GIA’s 7 Pearl Value Factors and equip participants with the skills necessary to evaluate cultured pearls, thereby enhancing their ability to promote the relationship between beauty, value, and quality in merchandise. Both courses are limited to the first 15 registered students, ensuring an intimate learning environment facilitated by a GIA Instructor. The event will take place at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, United States.
