About This Event
The 'Corrosion in the Oil and Gas Industry' course provides a comprehensive overview of corrosion engineering, specifically in relation to oil and gas production. Designed for engineers, inspectors, and R&D personnel within the oil and gas sector, the course emphasizes corrosion control methods, regulatory and safety aspects, and the importance of an integrated monitoring and inspection program. Participants will delve into the financial implications of corrosion, including production losses, repair costs, and materials, as well as various corrosion control measures such as inhibitors, cathodic protection, and effective design concepts. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics relevant to corrosion in the oil and gas field. These include the effects of oxygen, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, and bacteria on corrosion, alongside practical case studies and analyses of failures. Participants will gain insights into corrosion prevention techniques, material selection, and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods for effective corrosion control. Specific focus will be placed on the design and fabrication of storage tanks in accordance with API standards, the operational maintenance of reciprocating gas compressors, and the principles of centrifugal pumps among other related topics. The course ensures that attendees will leave with a robust understanding of corrosion engineering and its critical role in maintaining safety and efficiency in oil and gas production.
