About This Event
The Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) Course is designed to provide trainees with a comprehensive understanding of the safety, principles, and procedures associated with the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding process. This course is particularly beneficial for plant operators, quality assurance and quality control staff, and personnel involved in the certification of welders and non-destructive testing (NDT). Participants will learn about the advantages and disadvantages of GTAW compared to other welding technologies, how to select the appropriate power source, and the basic configurations utilized in the GTAW process. The curriculum covers essential topics such as safety precautions in welding, principles of GTAW, and the selection and preparation of tungsten for AC and DC welding. It also addresses the choice of shielding gases and basic GTAW techniques. Trainees will gain hands-on experience welding carbon steels, stainless steels, and aluminum, focusing on various joint types including edge, corner, lap, and fillet welds. The course is tailored for individuals involved in welding qualifications and NDT examinations, making it ideal for plant inspectors, third-party inspectors, shop inspectors, and QA/QC personnel. Additionally, the training includes advanced topics like internal corrosion for pipelines, construction and inspection requirements (ASME B31.3/CSA Z662), and fitness-for-service assessments (API 579-1/ASME FFS-1). This comprehensive approach ensures that participants are well-prepared to navigate the complexities of welding and inspection in the oil and gas industry.
