VIETFISHSH, the Ho Chi Minh City Fisheries and Aquaculture Exhibition, is the only world-class professional fisheries exhibition in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. Founded in 1998, it is organized by the Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and hosted by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). The scale and activities of Vietfish have been continuously improved to meet the needs of domestic and international enterprises, becoming the largest gathering point including Vietnam's leading seafood producers and processors, as well as international partners. VIETFISHSH attracted 327 exhibitors from Vietnam and 15 other countries, including the United States, Indonesia, India, Russia, Japan, and China. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Sac, Chairwoman of VASEP, Vietnam is currently ranked among the countries with high competitiveness in fisheries, with seafood exports ranking third globally, accounting for over 7% of the world market share, trailing only China and Norway. Mr. Phung Duc Tien, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, emphasized that fisheries are considered one of the key economic sectors contributing significant value to Vietnam's economy. Despite facing many challenges, Vietnamese seafood brands are welcomed by consumers both domestically and internationally; Vietnamese seafood has been exported to over 170 countries worldwide. VIETFISHSH, themed "The Home of Asian Seafood," provides numerous development opportunities for seafood processing and export enterprises through a series of rich and diverse activities, while also offering an experience of Vietnam's rich and diverse culinary culture. In the future, Vietnam's main goal is to become an international seafood and trade exhibition hub.
