ISTANBUL COMICS ART FESTIVAL

Exhibition Scale: Less than 10,000 ICAF Istanbul Comics and Art Festival is an open-air creative event in Turkey, initiated in 2016, aiming to bring together all creators related to visual arts. This festival is very rich and not limited to comics. The event features mural creations by local and international artists, comic bookstores, publishing houses, second-hand bookstores, an independent publications exhibition area, as well as various workshops, seminars, exhibitions, and music stage performances, forming a diverse street culture celebration. Its venue is not fixed, having moved between different cultural landmarks in Istanbul over the years, including Kadıköy Moda and Ortaköy Feriye Palace. Since 2021, the event has primarily been held at Müze Gazhane. ICAF is a vibrant festival rooted in street and independent art, perfect for enthusiasts of comics, illustration, graffiti, and other visual arts to explore and experience.

The Istanbul Comics and Art Festival is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary art event with a wide range of exhibits, deeply integrating urban art and popular culture. The core exhibition area focuses on various forms of visual narrative art, including traditional comic books, graphic novels, cartoons and caricatures, and the increasingly popular Japanese Manga. Additionally, the exhibition strongly promotes independent publications, featuring a dedicated "Fanzine" area showcasing original works from individual creators and small groups. Digital art and animation are also key highlights of the festival, with continuous screenings of animated works and a Gaming experience zone, allowing participants to interact with the latest digital entertainment content. In terms of visual arts, the exhibition covers various street art forms such as illustration, Graffiti, and stencil art, along with large-scale public space art installations. Numerous designers, illustrators, and artists display and sell their original works on-site. Beyond static exhibitions, the art festival organizes a series of dynamic activities, such as artist interviews, special lectures, live concerts, and multiple themed workshops, providing participants with opportunities for in-depth interaction with creators and hands-on practice.
