Introduction
The Lisbon International Handicraft Fair (FIA LISBOA) is one of Europe's oldest and largest international handicraft fairs, and a significant platform for cultural exchange and economic development in Portugal and the Iberian Peninsula. Since its inception in 1987, the fair has been successfully held for many editions, attracting exhibitors and hundreds of thousands of visitors from dozens of countries and regions worldwide annually. Organized by the Lisbon International Exhibition Centre (FIL), the fair aims to support regional development and local culture by showcasing all aspects of tangible and intangible cultural heritage—handicrafts, gastronomy, natural resources, tourism, and cultural activities. It promotes cultural diversity, preserves traditional craftsmanship, and provides an international stage for artisans to display and sell their works.FIA LISBOA is more than just a marketplace; it is a grand event for cultural exchange. It is dedicated to promoting the artistic value, cultural connotations, and social functions of handicrafts, allowing visitors to gain a deep understanding of the unique cultures of different countries and ethnic groups. During the fair, in addition to a dazzling array of exhibits, a series of rich and colorful cultural activities are held, such as handicraft demonstrations, folk performances, cooking classes, cultural lectures, and seminars, offering an immersive cultural experience for exhibitors and visitors. The fair's importance is reflected in its role in boosting the local economy, creating employment opportunities and economic benefits for local communities by promoting the sale of handicrafts and the development of tourism. At the same time, it provides artisans with opportunities to exchange, learn, and collaborate with international peers, helping to enhance their skills and market competitiveness.Exhibitors cover various fields of handicrafts, including but not limited to ceramics, textiles, wood carving, metalwork, jewelry, glass art, and leather goods. They include both experienced master craftsmen and creative emerging designers. The audience is broad, encompassing general consumers, art enthusiasts, collectors, designers, retailers, tourism professionals, and international tourists seeking cultural experiences. The successful staging of the fair not only consolidates its leading position in the international handicraft sector but also further enhances Lisbon's international influence as a cultural capital.
