活动介绍
The Michinoku English Education Summit (MEES) is set to take place in Hachinohe, Japan, at the Hachinohe Gakuin University – Hachinohe Art Museum Satellite Space. This summit creates a friendly and supportive professional development environment, welcoming participants from diverse regions and varying language teaching practices. It encourages novice presenters and individuals from non-academic backgrounds to take part in the event. The theme for this year's summit is 'Practical EFL Tips, Tools, and Techniques', featuring a lineup of engaging sessions and workshops led by esteemed educators.Notable speakers include Jonathan Isaacson from Tohoku Fukushi University, who will discuss the 'Use of Recording Technology for a Better English Lesson' and strategies to enhance students' oral participation through effective wait time techniques. Kirk Johnson from Chiba Institute of Technology will present on 'Utilizing Student Artistic Output to Generate and Activate Class Lessons', and also share insights on 'TBLT Gaming – A Practical Framework for Teaching with Games'. Mat Davies, a part-time lecturer and business communication coach, will focus on 'Structuring AI in the EFL Classroom: A Coaching-Led Framework for Preserving Learner Judgement' and 'The Reality Principle and EFL Teaching: From Theory to Classroom Practice'. Additionally, the summit includes a post-conference dinner and social event in downtown Hachinohe, fostering networking and community building among attendees. The approach of the conference emphasizes student-led instruction, utilizing games as communicative tools that prioritize meaningful and goal-oriented language use. Participants will engage in a multi-phase process that incorporates all four language skills, involving research, gameplay, performance analysis, and portfolio creation. An innovative 'pro-gamer inspired' assessment model will be introduced, encouraging students to produce self-edited 'best play' montages of their L2 performance. This methodology promotes responsibility and self-reflection among learners. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience parts of this framework firsthand, alongside presentations of student work that illustrate its potential application in various teaching contexts. James, an associate professor at Meiji University, will present his research on games and literacy, focusing on language education and educational game design. His work aims to enhance the teaching experience and improve language acquisition through engaging and interactive methodologies.
