The Time to Listen Conference, organized by initiative neue musik berlin e.V. in collaboration with the Academy of Arts, is set to take place at the Academy's venue in Berlin, Germany. This event, part of the SPREEKLÄNGE project, will explore the vital role of sound within the context of ecological interconnectedness and multispecies relationships. The conference invites participants to engage in a transformative dialogue about how listening and music-making can expand to include more-than-human actors, such as animals, plants, rivers, ecosystems, and technologies. By decentering anthropocentric listening, the conference aims to foster creativity and shared agency in artistic practices. Attendees will delve into critical questions about the responsibilities and relationships that arise when collaborating with non-human sound sources, as well as how these interactions can catalyze deeper understanding and creativity in music and sound.The conference will feature an open call for artists, curators, and researchers to propose sessions that align with the theme of Multispecies Creativity in Music and Sound. Each session, lasting 45 minutes, can take various formats including lectures, workshops, sound walks, listening sessions, and guided improvisations. Esteemed speakers at the event include Ludwig Quandt, Diyang Mei, and Daniel Harding, who will contribute their insights and expertise to the discussions. Participants will be encouraged to explore what it means to engage in meaningful artistic interactions across species and to identify systemic interactions within inter- and multispecies music. Through this exploration, the conference aims to expand attendees' understanding of musical creativity in an age of ecological awareness.
