The Radiation Protection Course for Medical Assistants is designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge required to obtain the X-ray license in accordance with the Radiation Protection Ordinance for the application of X-ray diagnostics. The course comprises a total of 90 hours of instruction, which is divided into both theoretical and practical components, the latter being conducted in a clinical setting. This program is specifically targeted at individuals who have completed medical training, such as medical assistants, and who perform X-ray examinations under the continuous supervision and responsibility of qualified physicians.Upon successful completion of the course, participants will undergo both a theoretical and practical examination, and the course is officially recognized by the Tübingen Regional Council in alignment with Section 51 of the Radiation Protection Ordinance. The knowledge gained through this course is applicable nationwide, and it is essential to note that according to the Radiation Protection Ordinance, this knowledge must be updated every five years. To receive the certificate of completion, proof of successful medical training is required. The course employs a variety of teaching methods including lectures with case studies and discussions, group work, practical exercises, and assessments of learning outcomes through a final exam. Additionally, participants will learn to create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and will engage in practical exercises related to setting up and exposing X-rays.
