活动介绍

The AMA Diversity Leadership Institute (DLI) is a transformative program aimed at empowering undergraduate marketing students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds who are eager to advance inclusive marketing practices. This immersive four-day retreat takes place at the prestigious Gies College of Business, located at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Throughout the program, participants engage with peers, faculty, and industry leaders to tackle real-world marketing challenges, reflect on the intersection of identity and leadership, and cultivate essential skills that will shape their future contributions to the field of marketing. The DLI not only focuses on enhancing marketing knowledge but also emphasizes the importance of intergroup dialogue surrounding equity and social justice issues. Participants will collaborate to research and present ethical solutions to contemporary marketing leadership challenges. The program encourages applicants from various identities, including racial or ethnic minorities, individuals who identify as LGBTQ, and those with documented disabilities. Prospective attendees are urged to submit an online application that includes a letter of recommendation and a résumé, along with specific questions about their interest in the program and demographic information. The event covers all costs related to food, travel, and lodging to ensure that no aspiring marketer misses this life-changing opportunity. The DLI features notable speakers and facilitators who bring a wealth of experience in marketing and advocacy. For instance, Dr. Khan, an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, emphasizes the importance of scholarship and societal impact in marketing. Jamal, an Associate Director at Lippe Taylor, has a rich background in social media campaigns for prominent brands, while Erick Mas, an Assistant Professor at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University Bloomington, utilizes consumer psychology to derive insights into marketplace behaviors. Additionally, Catherine Van, DEIB Initiatives Manager at the Oregon Community Foundation, focuses on amplifying underrepresented voices and advancing equity through authentic storytelling. Together, these experts aim to inspire participants and foster an environment of growth and inclusivity, making the DLI a pivotal experience for future marketing leaders.
