Join us at the Penn State Agronomy Research Farm in Pennsylvania Furnace for an engaging and educational event focused on farm equipment. This annual event, known as the Equipment Demo, will provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of essential farm equipment, including identification, operational principles, and practical applications. Participants will learn about the significance of proper calibration in supporting effective conservation practices across agricultural systems. The workshop is designed to enhance confidence and knowledge in farm equipment usage, making it an invaluable experience for those involved in agriculture.Throughout the day, attendees will have opportunities to network with peers and connect with experts in the field, allowing for an interactive learning environment. A special presentation on a hot topic will take place during the lunch hour, providing additional insights into the latest developments in agricultural practices. Esteemed speakers include Sjoerd Willem Duiker, Ph.D., a professor of Soil Management and Applied Soil Physics, and Tosh Rung Mazzone, director of the Pennsylvania Nutrient Management Education Program. Other knowledgeable presenters include Delbert G. and Jessica A. Williamson, Ph.D., who will share their expertise on various aspects of soil fertility, nutrient management, and sustainable practices. The event also covers critical topics such as sustainable pasture management for livestock, effective management of competing plants in hardwood forests, and techniques for stream restoration. Attendees will learn about the importance of heavy use area pads for cattle, manure storage management on horse farms, and the overall benefits of conservation practices.
