展会简介
The exhibition titled 'BK Expo: Architects Disseminate' is hosted at the Delft University of Technology in the city of Delft, Netherlands. This compact exhibition delves into the historical and contemporary ways in which architects have presented their work, exploring the narratives, framing, and projections of architecture through various media such as books, drawings, images, websites, and films. It invites visitors to reflect on the self-representation of architects, examining how they perceive themselves and how they wish to be perceived by the public. Central to the exhibition is the idea that architecture extends beyond mere construction; it encompasses storytelling as a strategic act that shapes public image and contributes to broader discourse within society. The exhibition showcases a rich lineage of architectural publications, juxtaposing early treatises by renowned figures like Sebastiano Serlio and Andrea Palladio with 17th-century works by Philips Vingboons and Jacob van Campen. It highlights the self-crafted mythology of Frank Lloyd Wright through the Wasmuth Portfolio and the systematic compilations of Le Corbusier's 'Oeuvre Complète'. Modern expressions of architectural communication are also on display, featuring works such as Koolhaas and Bruce Mau's 'S,M,L,XL', Zaha Hadid's manifestos, and the algorithmic interface developed by Vylder Vink. Other notable contributions include La-Di-Da’s low-carbon platform and the innovative visual grammar by Sub's sortable thumbnail system. Selected Instagram feeds further stage architecture as both performance and persona, enhancing the narrative experience. The exhibition also incorporates fictional geographies by Design Earth and the intricate cartographies from MVRDV's 'KM3', alongside the curated urbanity of Atelier Bow-Wow's 'Made in Tokyo'. A monitor will screen speculative films by Liam Young, adding a dynamic visual element to the exhibition. Projects by contemporary architects such as Andrés Jaque, Teddy Cruz and Fonna Forman, Léopold Lambert, and Studio Folder expand the definition of the architect, portraying them as editors, activists, researchers, and storytellers. This exhibition, organized by BK Public Programs at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at TU Delft, is curated by Dean Dick van Gameren, Javier Arpa Fernández, and Jesse Verdoes, with production support from Jesse Verdoes and Mick Morssinck. It emphasizes that dissemination has always been a vital component of architectural practice, serving to enhance visibility and facilitate the evolution of architecture.
